The following resolutions, reading as follows, were passed as noted (note the slight differences): AOH

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Pol Brennan, a
former Irish political prisoner, is being held in
solitary confinement without bail in Texas in a U. S.
Immigration Detention Facility, and
WHEREAS, The Department of
Homeland Security is opposing bail despite the fact that
he has a political asylum case pending, and
WHEREAS, Pol Brennan escaped
from the H-Blocks of Long Kesh and came to California
where he met and married an American citizen,
Joanna Volz, and
WHEREAS, The British
government has withdrawn its extradition request against
Pol Brennan after the signing of the Good Friday
Agreement, and
WHEREAS, Before his current
detention, Pol Brennan has lived openly and worked
legally in California since October 2000 while awaiting
a political asylum hearing, and during that time has
lived as a model, honest, and honorable member of his
community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
THAT, The California State Board of the Ancient Order of
Hibernians strongly urges the Department of Homeland
Security to withdraw its opposition to bail, and allow
Pol Brennan to continue to live and work legally in the
United States, until his political asylum case is
adjudicated.
This RESOLUTION
was read, considered and passed by a
unanimous vote on this 26th
day of April in the year of our Lord, 2008,
in the city and county of San Diego in the state
of California by the members of the California
State Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians
(hereafter referred to as the AOH) who were present, and
who collectively constituted a legal quorum to pass
motions, resolutions, and conduct such business as is
the province of the California State Board of the AOH;
and is attested to by the signatures affixed below.
